Typography : Shoes

Shoes.

Staring at my shoe cupboard, I see my neatly arranged, well cleaned and polished shoes.
For me, my shoes are like my babies (so many!). They need good pampering and cannot be handled badly. They need to be shiny & smooth. They need to be kept in their original place by the end of the day besides their best friend (shoe).
I can do all of this for them with ease because they're of greater help to me.
They make me feel confident, tall and they complete me. Every single time, I walk out my door, I'm never disappointed with what I'm wearing in my feet, they make me happy.

We have that one pair of shoes that can be worn on just-about-anything, whether it matches or not, you'll wear it anyway because it is your favourite pair.
That pair that makes you flip with happiness, makes you do a sexy walk and at the same time makes you run around like a child.
That pair that attracts a lot of attention, that turns heads.
I don't have one pair in particular because they're all my favourite. My babies!

I remember every little detail about each shoe. Where I bought it from, the famous walk down the shop alley to check if it fits correctly, smell of the new shoes, the first time I wore them, where I wore them and so on.
Some shoes are bought with planning, that goes somewhat like this – [ XYZ have launched their new shoe collection. Large shoe range. Eyes stop at this one shoe (& its price), eyes don't move, eyes are stuck there for really long. Shut the window – think about the shoe – eat – think about the shoe – go to bed – dream about the shoe – happens for almost a week]. That's how the well planned shoes make way in our wardrobe.
Then we have the impulsive yet good buys – Walking in a mall, eyes are glued to this shiny pair of shoes, followed by the faster-than-the-cheetah-run, you grab them, pay the price – followed by the i-own-the-best-shoes-pride walk.
We also have the-buy-in-bulk shoes because of its low price. Times when we walk in flea markets, see lovely shoes for a cheap bargain & buy them in almost all colours.

Shoes are an investment.  Shoes make you happy.  Shoes are your best friends.

Every shoe has a story.

The extremes meet.

Simplicity. My brain, heart, soul has been looking for simplicity off late. Taking the simple way out, sketching simple doodles, creating simple design layouts, eating simple food (not), trying to keep it simple. Simplicity is good and it gets better when two extreme simplistic forces meet. Applying that logic to my neatly piled up clothes, I chose nautical stripes and Indian tradional detailed jewellery.
Nautical stripes are my forever favourite & navy blue matches almost all skin tones. They are simple & often make you look thinner/curvier. If you havnt invested in a pair of nautical stripped garment, then do so!
I had purchased this necklace a long time ago & never happened to wear it. The rice pearls, studs and dull gold details can steal the limelight, a very beautifully structured simple necklace.

Bringing together two extremes can be fun sometimes!
A simple pearl ring, gold kolhapuris in my feet, bag with floral details to add a casual look to the outfit & I was good to go!

This terrace shot is my favourite! Location : College. I wore this on one of my art exhibit days. Also, I won an award for the best Graphic Designer of the year. Yay me! :D

Dress - FCUK from AJ, necklace, ring - Accessorize, kolhapuris - Bandra, bag - Zara
Location : Middle of the road, Prabhadevi,Mumbai.
Location : Near our favourite chaiwalla, Prabhadevi, Mumbai.

Story of the blue blouse

There were party songs being played, bhajiyas and jalebis being cooked, happy faces and lots of gifts. The girl was in her teens, excited to rip open her presents, waiting to see what she received. On ripping open the shiny silver paper, a blue blouse fell out. Soft material, ultra marine blue, beautiful neck details, lose hands - just how she liked it with tight cuffs. It was her favourite blouse since the minute she saw it. She handled it with care & wore it to special events and occasions. Eventually she grew out of it but didn't have the heart to throw it away. She kept it safely deep inside her cupboard and decided to pass it on to her child.

Only a few days back, my mom gave me her favourite blouse. On hearing the story of the blue blouse, it was suddenly my favourite as well. I'm keeping this safely once I grow out of it. It makes me feel proud, graceful & strong - just like my mom!

There were a couple of other garments she gave me that I'll wear in my posts soon. Vintage clothes, according to me, are the best. They have a lot of memories attached. :)

Blouse - Vintage, Skirt - Zara, Shoes - Artyheart Store, Ring - Forever 21

Over dosing these pink shoes. Can't help it. They fit like the glass slippers + favourite colour!
